For attachment to the Endeavor, Apollo, Triton, or Gemini Fort designs. If you have an existing fort or playset with 4" x 4" corner post and no swings, this universal swingset add-on plan will give you the information you need to add-on 2, 3, or 4 swing positions. This add-on plan may not fit your particular structure, but it will lend you valuable information on how to construct a sturdy a-frame and where to position your swings.
Build it yourself Universal Swingset
These plans will also give instructions for using the 3/8" bolt thru beam swing hanger or the ductile iron hanger. Either hanger will be sufficient to hold large children and some adults. It comes down to what you want and what you want to spend.
You will not doubt the strength of this design. Plans are for a rugged all wood a-frame assembly and 4" x 6" swing beam. Solid 4" x 4" a-frame legs and a-frame blocks work together to hold up the 4" x 6" wood swing beam. Bolt thru beam 1/2" carriage bolts secure everything together. All recommended hardware is heavy duty 1/2" or 3/8" carriage bolt or hex bolt for added durability, strength, and peace of mind. The all wood a-frame assembly is built to support any load your kids can dish out. The spread of the legs is greater than the height of the swing beam and legs are staked to ground to add increased strength and stability.

How to Drill a Counterbore for A-frame Blocks
Our DIY heavy duty A-frame swing set assembly requires drilling a straight 1/2" hole through a 4 x 4 and then drilling a 1-1/2 counterbore over the 1/2" hole. In this video we show you how drill a straight hole without the use of a drill press and then how to drill the counterbore with the use of a hole template. This step is essential for a strong swingset. This video specifically gives you tips for building the universal swing set add-on from OtterWorksUSA.
